Originally organized in August, 1981 as the Central Virginia Beekeepers' Association, the name changed in 2011 to the Ashland Beekeepers Association. Located in central Virginia just north of Richmond, we are a non-profit association of beekeepers and those interested in the stewardship of one of our most important pollinators: honey bees, the official state pollinator. We strive to educate on sustainable practices. We encourage all our members to start spare nucleus (nucs) colonies each year for both self-sustainability and to have local bees available for purchase.
Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at First Baptist Church Ashland, 800 Thompson Street (Route 54) Ashland, VA 23005. Map
